This morning we attended a video/lecture about how a day in the Infant-Toddler and Preschool rooms run in Reggio Emilia. So fascinating! I wish my class could handle a schedule like the ones here...but with their special needs things have to be a little different. However, I'm taking back a lot of great information and ideas. A child in the video made a really powerful statement that the teachers hung up, and I want to use it as almost a "theme" for my own classroom. He said, "Wherever you come from, you aren't a stranger here." I absolutely love it.
Right now, we are back at the hotel room. We are skipping out on a lecture about the way they use their outdoor space, only because Stefano - one of the Atelieristas who we had the park session with yesterday and the photo session on Monday with - told us it wouldn't be all that applicable to us because he already conveyed all the information to us in those sessions. Lunch is a 4 hour break as well....so we don't have to be back at the International Center until 6pm.
Tonight is going to be great...we have a class from 6-7pm, then it's off for some fun in the central square of the city. They have a piano bar event at 7:30 for us to attend, and then we are watching the World Cup finals in the city...going to be a blast!
Resting up for now and *trying* to upload pictures to this. When more than one or two people are on the internet in the hotel at once, it goes too slow to upload. :/ Hope to have pictures of the park session from yesterday afternoon up soon!
